Fall 2008
Just a quick
update. I'm on a book tour that ends at the end of the year but
picks up again in February when I go to New Orleans and sign books
at a Mardi Gras parade. In November, I'm headed to Santa Fe, New
Mexico, for a signing with actor and animal activist Ali MacGraw and
photographer Clay Myers and also to La Jolla (San Diego) for a
signing there.
Pawprints of Katrina is selling very well, thanks to everyone
who's embracing the stories -- and thanks also to Ali for
lending her good name to the book. It's been a whirlwind ride, which
has been great -- breakfast at the White House, dinner, hosted by
Laura Bush, at the Library of Congress, and a book signing and
talking to 250 people on the National Mall was quite an experience.
I met lots of new people, including the Frommers, a
father-and-daughter team who write guidebooks. And the kick-off
event in July for Pawprints where 200 people showed up was
wonderful.
My latest project -- a murder story -- is currently being pitched by
my agent. I expect to be able to report news about that really soon.
We're keeping it under our hats for now because it's a high-profile
case and we don't want to spill the beans just yet. But, I can
assure you, it's a suspenseful story.
I'm also working on a second edition of The Killing of Tupac
Shakur and also a second edition of The Murder of Biggie
Smalls. Both will be out next year, in 2009, and will include
new details about the cases. The rewrite and second edition of
Murder of a Mafia Daughter (with a slight title change to
Murder of a Mob Daughter) should be out early next year.
In the meantime, all books are still available. Stay tuned here and
on my blog for more updates!

Summer 2007
Hi, all--
Lots of good things are happening. I've signed a book contract with
Penguin that's crime-related. And I'm nearly finished writing the
second edition of Murder of a Mafia Daughter (now titled Murder of a
Mob Daughter: The Life and Death of Susan Berman). When I know the
release date, I'll let you know.
The really good news, however, is that my agent, with Riverside
Literary Agency, landed me a nice contract for Pawprints of Katrina:
Pets Saved and Lessons Learned. It's a quick turnaround, so that's
how I'll be spending my summer, writing like crazy. I've already
done most of the interviews and the research.
The book includes firsthand observations of my three-and-a-half
months in the Gulf region immediately following Hurricane Katrina in
2005. Photos for the book were taken by Clay Myers, a Best Friends
Animal Society award-winning photographer whom I worked with in New
Orleans. I'm excited about finishing the manuscript and seeing it
turn into a book. Also, Ali MacGraw, actress and animal activist, is
writing the book's foreword.
In Tupac Shakur news, watch for a documentary including new
interviews with several bodyguards of 2pac the day he was shot in
Las Vegas. I was interviewed for the docu, which is scheduled to be
released in September. New information about the murder case is
being released in this new film. As details unfold, I'll share them
with you.
Have a great summer!
Best,
