September/October Dear Readers, Time got away from me, so I'm combining two newsletters into one. Two of my books, The Murder of Biggie Smalls and Seraphim Rose: The True Story and Private Letters, were released the first week in October, in the same week! Needless to say, it's been hectic. I was in Hollywood two weeks ago to sign a movie deal and meet with directors for a film tentatively titled "Record Wars" about Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. The movie will be based on both my books. With the producers, I met with Spike Lee's people and Babyface Edmond's wife, Tracy (she's a director). A writer has already been put in place for the screenplay, on which I'll consult. A lot of interview requests have come in for the Biggie Smalls book. Court TV is coming in to Las Vegas in November to interview me for a segment they're doing about Puffy Combs (Biggie's record producer). Locally, TV 8 just covered the movie deal, and I'll be on a talk show on Las Vegas 1 in November, speaking about the Biggie Smalls book. Las Vegas CityLife has been good to me, covering both the Biggie Smalls and Binion book progress. They're reviewing "The Murder of Biggie Smalls." Nationally, I received a mixed review from The Source magazine, which doesn't surprise me since, in the past, they've criticized me for being white and writing about a black man. But, mixed is good -- either way, it gets the word out that there's a Biggie Smalls book out -- it's the first one to be written about him. Kirkus Reviews, which is a prestigious book reviewer, wrote a positive review about The Murder of Biggie Smalls (you can read an excerpt from it on this site by clicking onto the Biggie Smalls book cover). Travel-wise, I'll be in Laughlin in November for a week with a dozen other writers, familiaring ourselves with all that Laughlin has to offer -- boating, shows, restaurants, etc. A couple of book signings are being scheduled, including two in Las Vegas (one at the airport at Waterstone (the date hasn't yet been set) and another at Barnes & Noble (Nov. 11, 7 p.m. on Rainbow and Lake Mead). Death in the Desert: The Ted Binion Homicide Case is well into book production. The cover was just completed and I'm anxious to see it. The books is still on target for a December release, although it may be late December. I'll keep you posted! Thanks for stopping by! Best regards,
