Hi, all-
My debut newsletter—finally—with a look back at last October. That's when I spent three days with a French-German film crew in Seattle for a documentary about the late true crime author Ann Rule, her Ted Bundy book, and my biography of Ann. The filmmakers picked me up at the Sea-Tac airport and then we sat down in a bistro at my hotel so they could brief me on the next day’s shoot. Then Monday morning, the crew--producer Frédéric Bas, cameraman Michael C., producer Julien Gaurichon, and on-location fixer Maximilien Monson—began filming my interviews. The photo is at a table in Ann's former dining room, in her home of 20-plus years. That Monday, I was interviewed much of the day, which included a Zoom conversation between sociologist Joey Huertas and me. Joey interviewed Ann 20 years earlier inside her waterfront home on Puget Sound. The crew did another lengthy interview with me Tuesday at Ann’s same former tri-level home on Puget Sound. I took the tram down to Ann’s writing cottage on the water and main house next door. We ate lunch on the deck and were still there after dark, which meant we got to watch the sun set over the water. They continued filming until 10 p.m. It was amazing and surreal being there. It felt as if, at times, Ann were there with us. It was her birthday, and this is her birthday week, may she rest in peace. I continue to write a comprehensive biography of her life. Have a wonderful week! Cathy🥰 |
